  • Grace in Bloom: A Spring Fine Art Ballet Portrait Session in Our Longmont Studio

There’s a unique magic that unfolds when passion meets artistry, especially when capturing the elegant world of ballet. As a boutique photographer based in Longmont, CO, serving the entire Front Range, I believe in creating more than just photographs; I craft fine art pieces that celebrate dedication, grace, and dreams. Our recent spring styled ballet session with Hannah in our studio was a testament to this, creating breathtaking portraits that capture the ethereal beauty of a dancer. Hannah’s session was a dream of delicate movements and vibrant spring energy. In our Longmont photography studio, we meticulously designed a set that evoked the freshness of spring while allowing Hannah’s exquisite ballet form to take center stage.

Every detail, from the soft, directional lighting to the subtle, elegant styling, was carefully considered to highlight her technique and artistry. This controlled environment allows for precision and creativity, ensuring each image is a true work of art.

We understand that fine art portraiture requires a different approach – one that focuses on storytelling, emotion, and aesthetic perfection. Our high-service experience means we collaborate closely with our clients, from conceptualizing the vision to guiding every pose, ensuring the final images are not just beautiful but deeply meaningful. This session wasn’t just about ballet; it was about capturing Hannah’s dedication, her strength, and the pure joy she finds in her craft. For more examples of our studio’s versatility and how we highlight individual passions, explore our Personality Portraits.

  • A Foggy Fall Morning

Let me ask you something…. do you have a child in your family that doesn’t love having their portrait taken? My sweet kiddos have had MANY a photoshoot over the past 12 years of their lives. I wouldn’t have half the skills I do today without thier help! If we were a farming family, they would wake up at 4am and help up with the milking… perhaps. Anyway, they have certainly learned a lot.

I get it. Some kids don’t have the patience or are that interested in posing and all that. But I want to share a bit of the insight of the magic I see when I convince my kids to embrace my art with me, even if that is for 10 minutes. I see them light up. They receive a special kind of spotlight being photographed and it is a special way to help them feel seen.

Is there anything as fun as building a snowman? And making fresh footprints in the snow covered lawn? These are very short and sweet sessions but full of energy and joy. I enjoyed working with my daughter to bring out the nostalgia of wintertime fun. In northern Colorado, the majority of big snow storms come from January-March. This is on our studio property and the many pine trees make for a magical setting for portraits.

  • Why I don’t like “mini” sessions

Mini sessions are obsessively taking over the photography industry and I get it. People want a cheap and dirty solution to check the box and get their pictures done. And while I do offer shorter sessions mostly aimed toward children and in studio, they are only offered a few times a year and as a special edition opportunity. If they are photographed on location, there are with a specific one setup, one location ordeal. We capture magic yes, but it is a smaller variety.

I do wish to share with you all that you are missing out on with opting for a mini session over a full session with a full experience.

    1. Time to move about the location and capture a wide variety!
    2. Ability to slow down and capture something unique, like an epic moment in the rain playing the piano. Now that is fun.
    3. Being able to relax. Kids sense stress and I can tell you the difference between a mini session and full session is night and day when it comes to family portraits. Parents feel and act flustered and rushed and running a bit late is even MORE of a stress as they know their sessions are back to back with other clients.

I want to provide my clients with an unrushed experience. When we have flexibility and aren’t cramming back to back with other sessions, than you all can relax! If it rains, no biggie. We will wait it out for a few and you know what? We may even be lucky enough to spot a rainbow.

In edition to a relaxed portrait session, my entire experience is hands on as I help with the full process in creation wall art and more for you to enjoy.

  • Waiting for Santa Christmas Magical Photoshoot

You know that magical feeling of excitement you had as a kid as you waited the night before Christmas and tried to hard to fall asleep but your mind was spinning with visions of sugar plums in your head? That sweet innocent anticipation? I have so enjoyed capturing little ones and their anticipation for waiting for Santa! We enjoy hot cocoa and cookies, story time and “spying” Santa and his reindeer. And of course, there is the magic of my own I bring to the table with over 15 years of photography and editing experience with our magical composite edits.

  • Sandstone Ranch: Generation Family Portraits

I had the joy of photographing Cody and her cute little family just before Thanksgiving. I swear, I have a bit of whiplash with how fast this year has flown by. Part of it Thanksgiving was so late this year I think and there is always so much to do to get ready before Christmas!

It was chilly but we braved the cold and captured some treasures. The majority of my sessions involve a lot of movement and playtime! And it is so special with grandparents tag along for a generation portrait. Have family in town for the holidays? Let’s document those special moments together.

  • Maternity Photoshoot Longmont : Little Pumpkins

This family is just the sweetest. I had such fun with them on this beyond perfect fall day. Mid October is the ideal time of year for the perfect fall color here in Northern Colorado. It is a hit or a miss with rainy weather but well worth it! I can’t wait for their sweet little baby to join them any day now! They find out the gender at birth. How fun is it to leave it a surprise.
